MyFitnessPal Helping Me Stay on Track

Myfitnesspal review

Ever since I can remember I have been on some type of diet. I have true food issues. Exercise doesn’t seem to be as much of a problem for me. I love my Zumba and use my treadmill regularly for walking and running. Year in and year out, food continues to be my issue.

I have had success on Weight Watchers. I’ve learned a lot from them about fiber, carbs, and a balanced diet. But I think what helps me most on Weight Watchers is the accountability. When I have to write down what I eat, I am much more mindful of the junk. I didn’t want to go back on Weight Watchers right now for various reasons, so I was looking for something else to help keep me accountable while using the Fit Dont Quit tutorials.

A number of my friends have mentioned using MyFitnessPal. It’s a free website and app where you can track your food and exercise. I have been using it for a week and absolutely love it!! So far I haven’t found a thing that I do not like.

What are some of my favorite parts?

  • Being able to go back and forth between my phone and the computer depending where I am when I want to enter calories.
  • The scanner on the Facebook app that allows me to quickly scan the bar codes of foods. I even found a bunch of generic Kroger foods when I scanned them.
  • The huge database of foods. Pretty much everything that I have wanted to find in there so far has been there–including restaurant foods like Subway. It makes it easy to find actual calorie values instead of just guessing.

I’m anxious to see if I can actually lose some weight using it. There is certainly a lot of potential because I know that I am doing a better job of eating the right foods and working in more exercise. I promise to report back in a few weeks!

I’ve also been using that app, so easy to use (you know that if I can do it) and I’ve lost 4.5 lbs in a week. I love that I can look for different restaurants and see what they have on their light menu before I even go, it actually helps me where I want to eat out at and reaffirms that I can eat out instead of having to cook every meal.
