CoverGirl Lash Blast Fusion Review (Not Impressed)

February 6, 2014 By Tricia 1 Comment

I am not a big makeup wearer, but I do wear the basics pretty much every day. The one thing I almost never leave the house without is mascara. I like to try different types of mascara because my eyelashes are very light colored and not extremely long. I’ve even been known to use two different mascaras at once to get the look I want.

The last time I was in the store, I saw the Cover Girl Lash Blast Fusion on an endcap. They were making a pretty big deal about how it is their first ever “volume plus length” mascara. And it was more expensive than the regular Lash Blast, which I have used in the past and liked, so I figured it had to be even better.

I ended up being very disappointed with the results. It’s supposed to have “buildable fiber-strength lengthening” and make your lashes look longer while also thickening them. I put on two coats and couldn’t really even tell I was wearing mascara. The brush looked very dry and hardly even looked like I was putting much on. I continued to try to use it every day for a couple of weeks but it never got better. Each day it looked like I was hardly wearing any mascara at all.

I wondered if maybe my expectations were just to high. So I tried the Neutrogena Healthy Lengths that I had tested as some kind of marketing campaign. I immediately noticed that my eyelashes looked longer with it than the Lash Blast Fusion. The next day, I went back to my standby Maybelline “The Falsies” Volum Express. Bam! My eyelashes looked right again. Much longer. A little thicker. Without a doubt more noticeable.

I’m still on the hunt for the perfect mascara. For special occasions I use the Healthy Lengths first to lengthen and then something else to add volume. Do you have a perfect mascara that you recommend I try?

Have you tried Mary Kay. My two faves are Ultimate and Love Lash Lengthening. Can be used separately or layered. If layering the Love Lash would be applied first.
