Protect Your Family Against Identity Theft with MetLife Defender

January 26, 2015 By Tricia Leave a Comment

I’ll be the first to admit that I am pretty free with my personal information online. In part it is the nature of my job. I would have to be so incredibly careful not to leave any trace of pictures, my kids’ names, where I live, etc. It just isn’t possible for me.

That said, I do worry that putting too much out there may come back to bite me someday. I’ve never tried any kind of identify theft program before, despite getting all kinds of free offers. I do have some alerts set up for my credits cards, but I couldn’t even tell you the last time that I looked at a credit report.

That’s all going to change. I’m trying the MetLife Defender 30-day Free Trial. The time has come for me to take a more pro-active approach in protecting not only my own information online but that of my kids. I would hate to see their credit ruined before they even have a chance to use it!

What does the MetLife Defender protection include?

  • Identity Theft and Person Data Protection including personal identity monitoring and junk mail removal.
  • Health Data Protection including medical insurance fraud.
  • Online Child Safety including child identity theft protection, cyber predator detection, and cyberbullying applications.

I’m really anxious to see how the Online Child Safety protection works, especially given that my daughters are both starting to use Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter–the three networks they specifically list. And I love that the “children” protection in the Family Plan goes up until the age of 26.

The thing about protecting yourself from Identity and Credit theft is that you don’t know you need it until it is too late to get it. I’m not taking any more chances! I have always trusted the MetLife brand, so it is the first service like this that I have really considered trying myself. If you’ve ever had credit troubles – you’ve probably looked up a list of expert credit repair companies to call some and see what your options are, but preventing these credit hiccups is even easier. Better safe than sorry, right?

Have you ever tried a service like MetLife Defender? How did it work out for you?
