I’m a bit of a mascara snob. I have tried probably 100 different kinds. I have light colored lashes that are probably average in length. I’ve tried lengthening products but they usually make my eyes turn reddish while I use them (which can be for more than a month to get a good impact). So I switched to just using mascaras that promised to give a longer length look, and a I found a couple that I really liked.
When I received an opportunity through BzzAgent to review the Neutrogena Healthy Lengths Mascara (along with the MoistureSmooth Color Sticks and Crease Proof Eye Shadows) for free, I will admit that I was skeptical. First of all, I have not found many “length” mascaras that truly deliver on what they say. Second, I don’t think of Neutrogena for cosmetics. I think of them for cleaning.
Imagine my surprise when I tried the mascara for the first time and found that it gave my lashes a MUCH longer appearance. They looked long enough that they almost appeared fake, especially if I added a dark liner to the upper lash along with the mascara. When they say that the lashes will look 100% longer, they are not lying. It was very noticeable. And even better, the mascara contains vitamin E and olive oil that will will strengthen the lashes so that they continue to get longer with each day.
I’m a contact wearer and had no problem with this mascara. In addition, it cleaned off nicely. The worst thing you can do when trying to grow out nice long lashes is use a mascara that is so hard to clean that you end up pulling out some of your lashes when you remove the mascara!
While I did like the other two products as well, I could take them or leave them. The Color Sticks felt great on my chapped lips but I need to try a darker color, I think. The Crease Proof Eye Shadow was a nice shimmery color and applied easily and did stay through most of the day.
But the real winner was the Neutrogena Healthy Lengths Mascara. So much so that I will likely be switching to it from my previous brand!
