#DisneySide Party Kit

When I was sent an opportunity to apply for a Disney Side @Home Celebration (thanks, Kim!) through Disney Parks and MomSelect, I jumped at it! We’re huge Disney fans in our house. We own Disney Vacation Club, take at least one Disney trip every year, and take a Disney Cruise every other year. We have a Disney Annual Passholder sticker on our car (our first year for that!), and our friends always come to us when they are planning Disney trips. We love EVERYTHING Disney!

After I found out that I was accepted for the party, I anxiously awaited my box of “party goodies” in the mail. (Okay, so I peeked at other people’s blog posts to see what they had gotten because I could not resist!) I noticed that there was a very wide range of things in the box, and I started planning what I would do with them.

First things first, my daughters are 11 and 13. Well, one will be 11 in the next couple of weeks and that complicated things. I wanted to keep this party separate from her birthday so that her other sister could also invite friends. What party could I host for teens and tweens just 2 weeks before another big party?

As I saw other people making goody bags and treats that I knew wouldn’t appeal to my kids, I started to worry that I wouldn’t be able to pull off something “Disney” worthy. As I was driving home a carpool full of teens from musical practice, inspiration struck.

Disney is all about music!

Having just been to see Frozen TWICE in the last month (first the regular and then the sing-a-long version), I decided that our party will focus on the music of Disney. We’ll have Disney music trivia, Disney soundtracks playing as everyone arrives, and then the biggy–Disney Karaoke! It is always one of my daughters’ favorite things to do on the Disney Cruises and we have the perfect setup to do it at home as well.

Next week will be spent using the HP photo card packs to customize and print party invitations. During the party, the kids will get a kick out of the Mickey themed plates, cups, napkins, and banners. It’s a little young for them, but who doesn’t love Mickey? After all, “it was all started by a mouse.” (Walt Disney)

I think I am going to use the Mickey cookie cutter to make sugar cookies and use the cupcake wrappers as party mix holders. I am hoping to still be able to get the chocolate covered Mickey pretzels that Target had over the holiday! I can mix them up with the Craisins Dried Cranberries that also came in the kit and make a snack mix of sorts.

Some of the things in the box that they graciously provided us are mainly going to be for me and my family (like the American Tourister Luggage and the measuring cups from The Chew), but I’m going to work as much of the other stuff into the party as I can (including blog about tattoo and stickers).

There’s still so much to do, but now that I have a theme and a plan, it’s getting exciting. Thanks to Disney Parks and MomSelect for providing this opportunity to me! I’ll be sure to report back after the party!
