Normally when I am checking out the Amazon ads on my Fire TV, it’s to find free Amazon Prime Video credits on my Fire Stick for streaming videos or watching ads. But today I was scrolling by and happened to see a donation opportunity worth mentioning.
There is a new “Protect Playtime” campaign sponsored by PetArmor. From now through June 24th, you can actually raise money for shelter animals just by having a family movie night. For every hour you spend watching curated favorites like Scooby-Doo, Ratatouille, or Fantastic Mr. Fox, Amazon will donate $1 directly to the Best Friends Animal Society (up to $100,000). These funds go straight to work supporting a “no-kill” mission, helping provide medical care, safe shelter, and adoption resources for pets across the country.
As you probably know, my mom runs a no-kill animal rescue called Pawesome Village Rescue in Florida, so this issue is really important to our whole family. If you want to support a small, local rescue, click here to see how you can donate or shop through them.
The Amazon ad says that 7 million families will get a pet this year but with just 6% more adoptions, we would have a no-kill America. That would be so amazing! The Amazon campaign also has a QR code you can scan to help your family find adoptable pets.
Here’s a full list of the included movies:
- Scooby-Doo: The Movie
- Ratatouille
- Zookeeper
- Fantastic Mr. Fox
- Tom & Jerry: The Movie
- The Aristocats
- Lilo & Stitch
The content MUST be streamed on Fire TV (not just Amazon.com) in order for the donations to be made. I could watch Ratatouille pretty much any day of the week, so this is an easy one for me!
