8 Reasons You Need To Read This Post To Find Out What Happens Next and Which Dwarf You Are

August 22, 2017 By Tricia Leave a Comment

Funny thing about this post. I drafted it over a year ago and never meant to publish it. But then someone hacked my blog today, added a spammy link to it, and hit publish without me knowing it. So here it is. Not my best work (which is why it was never published) but rather something I was obviously very irritated about at the time!(original post)

I will admit that I am a social media/communication junkie. I have my Facebook, Twitter, and G+ open at all times. I check my phone regularly for Snapchat and Instagram notices. I talked to people via email, mobile messages, and Facebook messages all day and half the night. And I am a totally sucker for clicking on Facebook links to read supposedly interesting stories.

But I am about ready to stop clicking on anything at all. For awhile they were really cute. I liked reading all the things that only drama kids would understand and laughing about memories from my youth. I was anxious to see which Disney Princess I would be (please be Cinderella!!). And of course I had to click through to see what happened next to the dog that was about die but now looks perfectly okay. Every link is full of promise and suspense or nostalgia and poignancy. How can I not click???

But 9 times out of 10 I end up reading the posts and feeling a sense of disappointment for having wasted my valuable clicking energy (and maybe time) on the resulting post/meme/video. Or I don’t exactly get the joke and have to Google the punchline to see if I am really missing something that everyone else seems to get. Facebook gets so excited that I clicked on the link that it makes sure that all of my friends sees it and then they have to experience the same disappointment that I do.

Or maybe they are all more disciplined and manage to resist clicking? Probably not else I wouldn’t know which Game of Thrones character they are most like, which Song of Summer represents them, what Exotic Island they belong on, whether they framed Roger Rabbit, where they found Waldo, and how much wood a woodchuck can chuck.

Do you feel totally tricked by most of the stories that you click on from social media (or even newsletters)? Does it make you want to stop reading blog posts altogether?
