Wicker Park

(starring Josh Hartnett, Rose Byrn, Matthew Lillard, and Diane Kruger)

This is one of those movies that is hard to write a review about without giving too much away. I'll keep it short except to say that this was definitely more Chick Flick than suspense/thriller.

I saw a preview for Wicker Park recently on another DVD. Now that we have Netflix, I've been watching a lot more movies! So I queued it up and figured that it looked like a good suspense/drama that both my husband and I would like.

Fortunately, I decided to watch it while my husband was out of town. I really don't think he would have gotten into it. It was more girly than the preview let on.

Hartnett plays a man haunted by his memories of a former lover, played by Kruger. Lillard and Byrn are friends of Hartnett and Kruger's characters, respectively. They work in and out of the entire plotline. The performances are not Oscar-worthy, but the characters are believable.

Wicker Park is a movie that you need to watch closely because it jumps back in forth in time often and between characters. The less you know about the plotline of the movie in advance, the more likely you are to enjoy its twists and turns.

It's rated PG-13, mainly for a few sexual situations that are more than suggestive but less than graphic. The storyline is definitely PG-13 or more. Wicker Park is worth a rental, especially if you are a fan of Hartnett. Just don't expect your husband to be as into it as you are!
