Bear Snores On

By:  Karma Wilson

Illustrated By:  Jane Chapman

This was Karma Wilson’s debut as a children’s’ book author, and it was fantastic.  It was also featured this year as one of the Kohls Cares for Kids books.  Kohls dedicates 100% of the net profits from the sale of this book to designated children’s hospitals.  Each year Kohls has several books and stuffed toys priced at only $5.00 to ensure the furthering of their effort to improve the health and educational opportunities for children.

In Bear Snores On a great brown bear lies sleeping in a deep dark lair.  While he’s sleeping some other forest animals stop in to get warm.  Even after a fire is started and corn is popped, bear keeps sleeping.  After a number of uninvited guests arrive and a party is started Bear finally awakens.  Young readers will enjoy watching Bear’s BIG reaction to his surprise guests and will love the happy ending.

This book was a fun read and is perfect for reading aloud with its lyrical text.  I love reading to my children and would recommend Bear Snores On for winter or anytime during the year.  It makes it extra special to know that this reasonably priced hard cover book is also helping children in local children’s hospitals.

Check it out at your local Kohls or find it at Amazon.com.  You may also want to get Bear Wants More and Bear Stays Up for Christmas.
