It has been a couple of years since I have purchases an Entertainment Book, and I probably should have bought one when they were on sale in July. But I didn't! However, I came across this Entertainment Rewards opportunity that is basically like the Entertainment Book only an online version. I joined up and found a number of 2-for-1 deals at restaurants that I actually eat at in Indianapolis. The best part is that it is a free month trial and then only $9 a month after that. So you can try it and see if you get $9 out of it. If not, cancel! I'm going to try it for a few weeks and see how much we use it. Will let you know!

Big Brother is back and it is taking off quickly! I've watched it every year and was starting to wonder if it would hold my interest again for a 7th year. It definitely is! It's great to see some of the old characters and compare how they acted the first time that they were on the show to this time.

If you are like me, you like to watch the live feeds every now and again or check the "spoiler" boards that tell you what is going on that isn't televised. Right now you can get the Big Brother Superpass free and watch the live feeds.

Happy watching! I'll update on BB again when we get a couple more weeks in and things really start to heat up.

Last weekend I received an email that the boyfriend of one of my friends was involved in a bicycle accident toward the end of a race in Ohio. Since then, I have been following his progress on a blog site that has been set up for him. Those of you in Central Indiana have likely heard about Bret Neylon, a Brownsburg West Middle School history teacher and high school varsity track and cross country coach.

Bret's girlfriend, Tracie, was my boss at Lexis for some time and has been a friend since then. I had lunch with her just a couple of weeks ago and was thinking to myself what a physical couple they are--much different than me and my husband! They truly enjoy the time that they spend cycling together. They even take their bikes with them on vacations!

Bret is currently paralyzed from the shoulders down. It's hard to even comprehend what Bret, Tracie, and their families are going through right now. It puts into perspective 100% what is important and makes me all the more happy about my decision to spend this summer with my daughters rather than on conference calls all day. I know not everyone has that luxury, and I am eternally grateful for my situation.

If you are interested in following along with Bret's story or donating to the fund set up for him, you can visit http://www.morristrucking.com/race/race.html. I can't help but visit multiple times each day just to see what is happening...hoping and praying for Bret and Tracie.

I don't know if my husband reads my blog or not, but I have to write this anyway. On the eve of Father's Day, I am sitting here reflecting on my own father (or lack thereof) and my husband as a father. It fills my heart with so much joy to see the way that my girls are with their daddy. They truly believe that he can fix everything and that he hung the moon for them. And that is the way that it should be...at least at their ages. Moms and daughters definitely have a certain connection...but I think that the bond between a father and a daughter is even more special in some ways.

A woman will want to be treated in her future relationships the way that her father treated her. If her father respected her and let her know her worth, she will want the same in a husband. If her father was cold toward her and disappointed her, she will expect the same from her husband. Looking at my husband with my daughters, I know that they will seek out men someday who will treasure them, value them, make them feel important. Men who will give them a dose of reality but will try their hardest to pull the stars out of the sky for them. Why? Because that is what their daddy does for them each and every day.

Happy Father's Day...to the one in our family who changed the most diapers, who sits patiently in the lobby during dance classes, and who has the pediatrician's phone number on his cell phone speed dial. To the one who cleans up the puke, doesn't faint when he sees blood, and taught the girls how to fly kites. To the one who will make sure that my daughters have an education, a strong foundation in life, and a sense of value and purpose in the world. Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband, Kevin.

So we have reached the end of week one! I have to say that I am not missing corporate America at all like I thought that I would be. In fact, I loved spending the week working on my business and playing with the girls. My older daughter had summer camp three hours a day, which meant lots of drop offs and pickups. Both girls started swim lessons for the first time. And it was the end of the year dance recital, which meant a night of practice, a night of pictures, a night of dress rehearsal, and most of Saturday spent on the recital. It was an incredibly busy week but wonderful.

Next week should slow down enough for me to actually get caught up on a lot of the things that I want to get caught up with on the website. I want to completely revamp the shopping page and get the reviews and discounts going again. More soon!

After being a work-at-home mom for 6 years, Monday starts a new phase for me and my family. Having left my job in corporate America, I am going to focus my energy on building my websites into a business. I want to make the most of the last summer before my older daughter starts school, so we will be spending all of it together! Stay tuned and I will write about my adventures of going from all-day conference calls and meetings to play dates in the park.

The girls and I already have big plans for the summer--swim lessons, summer camps, a trip to Florida, and more! On Monday, we will sign up for the summer reading program at the library. If you have any good suggestions for us, leave a comment!

I have to admit from the outset that I love watching Donald Trump's The Apprentice on NBC. I don't know what it is, but I suspect that it is a combination of my desire to learn more about business with my love of reality television.

When I saw the new Trump University
website, I was immediately intrigued. I've spent the last few hours playing around on the site.

First of all, do not be fooled--this is less about education and more about Trump building his empire. Most of the content on the website comes with some kind of price tag. That said, there are a number of areas with free resources including blogs and discussion boards. Subjects center around management, entrepreneurship, and real estate.

I wish that the site had been more active during this season of the Apprentice. There are some discussions led by "Trump U" team members, but few people participated. I led a similar discussion board with my team at LexisNexis this season. We raised many more issues than are on the Trump U discussion board. Perhaps as the site grows in membership the discussions will become more lively in future seasons.

You should definitely sign up for the free newsletters. When you do, you will be given access to back issues. They contain some helpful concepts.

At a minimum, the site is interesting. Best case, you might even make some business contacts that would help you in building or growing your own business. I think that Trump University</u ..

Fall is here and with it comes some of my favorite things! I love taking pictures in the pumpkin patch, making s'mores around a campfire, and cheering for my favorite football team. For kids, fall means heading back to school, playing in the leaves, and celebrating Halloween.

What's hot for moms this autumn? Stick with jewel tones in your clothes and makeup. Deep purples and roses are beautiful on various skin types. Shrugs and flats are fashion "dos" this year.

Don't forget that it is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and both Sweetest Day and Boss's Day are coming up next week!
