Fondue Fun at the Melting Pot!If you have not experienced an evening at The Melting Pot, you are missing out on one of the best nights out that a mom can have. It is fondue at its finest! The Melting Pot is the perfect experience for a romantic night out, a double date with another couple, or even a girls' night. The Melting Pot is known for its wine list, but I prefer the martini menu. In either case, the bartenders are knowledgeable and accommodating. The wine "flights" are a series of four wines served by the glass chosen to accompany the courses of the meal. The meal itself is up to four courses. For the first course, cheese, you choose between several different varieties, which your server prepares at your table. I'm partial to the wine-based Swiss, but there is also a beer-based cheddar and two others. You are given bread, vegetables, and apples to dip in the cheese. The next course (one that I sometimes skip) is the salad. You have three choices of salads. I had the California, which was covered in one of the best raspberry vinaigrettes that I have ever tasted. The third course is the main course. You may cook in either oil or one of various broths. Here you have an incredible assortment of types of meats and vegetables. We had a huge plate of lobster, shrimp, steak, chicken, and ravioli. Accompanying the meats was a never-ending platter of potatoes, mushrooms, and vegetables. If that is not enough variety, you are given dipping sauces to mix and match. In my mind, nothing compares to their Green Goddess that is best on the potatoes and mushrooms. If you have visited before, you may be surprised at some of the changes in the sauces. My husband and I both enjoyed the newest additions. The last course is my very favorite--the chocolate!! The menu suggests options like Turtle, S'mores, and Yin and Yang. But you can also create your own choices. What to dip for this final course? Everything! A plate for two people includes cheesecake, marshmallows, fruits, brownies, pound cake, and more. I can say without a doubt that is it my absolute favorite dessert anywhere! The Melting Pot is more than just a dinner out, it is an experience meant to be shared. Expect to spend a couple of hours, maybe more depending on how many courses and drinks you have. Choose your courses ala carte or a package deal like The Big Night Out. For locations and more information, visit the website at
