Indy 500 History
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was built in 1909. The track is
2.5 miles long with 200 laps. Since 1911, the race has been run
every year with the exception of times of war-- 1917-1918 and
1942-1945.

The
11th annual Bank One 500 Festival Rookie Run
is a non-competitive fun run for kids, ages 3-12, where everyone goes away a winner. The Rookie Run, which compliments the OneAmerica
500 Festival Mini-Marathon, is a great way for kids to enjoy
physical activity. All participants will receive a goodie bag and a
finishers medal – just like the Mini-Marathon participants.
Before and after your race, enjoy all the fun, food and excitement at Bank One
500 FestivalKids’ Day. Don’t miss your chance to win one of more than 10,000 prizes by racing Mini Cars, making arts and crafts, or participating in interactive games and activities. Kids’ Day runs from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
on Sunday, May 15.

Visit Pit Lane and watch Pit Stop practice of real crews.
Get autographs from Pro Series drivers and past champions.

The Parade steps off at North and Pennsylvania, heads South on Pennsylvania to Washington, and travels West on Washington to Meridian and proceeds North on Meridian to 11th Street.
