The Internet is quickly replacing other traditional forms of entertainment and education such as television, magazines, and books. How can you enjoy time with your children on the Internet while continuing to teach them and help them to be creative?

1. www.mapquest.com Mapquest is more than just a place to find driving directions. It is a fully interact map program that can take your children to far away places. Plug in Grandma's address and show the kids how to get from your state to hers. Put in a big city and have fun exploring street and river names. Learn about geography in a way that will hold your child's attention.

2. www.weeklyreader.com Weekly Readers provides resources for kids and families alike. Play math games or find new recipes.

3. www.nationalgeographic.com No matter your kids' age, he will find something interesting at National Geographic. Older kids will enjoy the vivid pictures and experiments. Younger kids will love the coloring pages and crafts.

4. www.fisher-price.com Good for the smaller set, Fisher-Price features free music and alphabet games on its website that will engage your preschooler.

5. www.kididdles.com Do you like to sing songs with your kids but sometimes forget the words? Are is your repertoire in need of a makeover? KIDiddles features not only the lyrics to beloved songs but also the tunes in case you do not know them.

9. www.loc.gov The Library of Congress is an educational site for parents and kids alike. In the "Kids and Families" section, you will find fun facts like "This Day in History."

10.   www.sesameworkshop.org You watched it yourself on television as a kid; now share the 21st Century version with your own kids. After more than 25 years, Sesame Street continues to teach children about the alphabet, numbers, and diversity.
